Globally some 1.2 million people are killed in road traffic crashes, and 50 million are injured annually; with such morbidity and mortality burden slated to increase by as much as 65% by the year 2020, if current trend of passivity towards this major public health problem persists.1 In Pakistan, transport related injuries account for 36% of 41.2 serious injuries per thousand persons each year. 2 Road rage is a term used for verbal abuse or a threat/act of physical harm by either a driver or passenger of one vehicle to the occupants of another vehicle or pedestrians; and leads to serious injuries, death and economically burdens its victims.3 Association of psychiatric illness with road rage has been empirically demonstrated, and psychiatric distress has been reported in both the victims as well as the perpetrators.4 Young males are reportedly, more likely to be victims and perpetrators of road rage in population survey.
