Abstract

In April 2002, the Philippines Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) recognized that in connection with the new Planning Process under the Reform Agenda, there was an urgent need to review the current classification of the road system (including bridges) in the country. At that time a Technical Working Group (TWG) was established with permanent members from DPWH and the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) and with ad hoc members from the Department of Transportation and Communications, the Department of Tourism, the Provincial Engineers' Association of the Philippines (PEAP) and the Municipal Engineers' Association of the Philippines to advise on the topics of discussion from their professional views. The proposal also includes a route numbering system. (a) For the covering entry of this conference, please see ITRD abstract no. E214938.
