Abstract
Statistics of fatal and serious accidents of all road users are presented (1953-1967). Percentages of 1967 are given of accidents occurred at night, at junctions, and on motorways. Percentages are also given of fatalities and injuries happen to pedestrians (adult-child), and to motor vehicle occupants. The problem of skidding resistance, driver behaviour and the high accident rate of young people are pointed out. Cooperation in research is mentioned. Recommendations for the future are made.
