Abstract

It is concluded that in Europe and particular in the Netherlands, an obligation for daytime running lights will most likely reduce the number of daytime multiple accidents by about 25% and will surely reduce these accidents by more. / than 10%. Since in the Netherlands the number of these accidents is about half the total number of accidents, the expected reduction of the total number of accidents is at least 5%.
