Abstract

In 2008 7,491 pedestrians were killed in road traffic accidents in the EU-23, which is 20.4 % of all fatalities. In the last decade, pedestrian fatalities have reduced by 25.2%, while the total number of fatalities has reduced by nearly 30%. Road safety measures implemented in the last 10 years may have helped to reduce the number of pedestrian fatalities. (Author/publisher)
