Abstract

Road accidents are a continuous burden for all countries, developing and developed alike. There are reasons, however, to pay special attention to developing countries as the situation often seems to be more unfavourable as in developed countries, and as the consequences of road accidents, can be much more far-reaching. In this note the situation in developing countries is discussed, the role of developed countries in improving the situation and more in particular the role of scientific research.
