Road safety education : making safe connections.

Abstract

This paper reviews recent research at the Transport and Road Research Laboratory (TRRL) aimed at the development and testing of road safety education and attempts to forecast progress. Specific projects reported on include the traffic clubs Streetwise-Kids Club, operated by the London Borough and the Eastern Regional Traffic Club; various initiatives in pedestrian training for preschool, primary and secondary school children, and the experimental models of good practice for road safety education which are currently being implemented in schools in Sheffield, St Albans and Dacorum, Herfordshire.
