Abstract

This issue of Current Topics includes over 75 abstracts of reports, conference papers, books and journal articles which focus on road traffic safety education for vulnerable road users such as child pedestrians, cyclists, motorcyclists, elderly drivers and elderly pedestrians. Specific subject include the place of road safety education in the school curriculum; safety education of children, parents and the community; the operation and assessment of safety awareness campaigns; and training initiatives and intervention programs for traffic offenders. These items have been selected from the material added to the Transport Research Laboratory's Library Database between 2004 and 2008. Much of the relevant English language published literature from the UK, USA, Australia and Europe is included; some of the non-UK literature is included courtesy of the OECD International Transport Research Documentation (ITRD) database. Abstracts for the years 1995-1998 can be found in a previous issue of this title, Current Topics in Transport CT 78.1 (C 12304 S (IRRD 492331); for the years 1999-2002, see C 21562 S (CT 78.2).
