Abstract

The purpose of the Project on Social Attitudes to Road Traffic Risk in Europe (SARTRE) is to assess the attitudes and opinions of drivers about the road safety and general risk, in several European countries. As part of this project, a quantitative study has already been carried out with European drivers. In order to enlarge on the results obtained, INRETS wanted to carry out documentary research in all of the countries concerned. This research shoud result in the constitution of a comparable data base between the countries and the discovery of the explanatories factors. This research was carried out on Germany, Austria, Belgium, Spain, France, Ireland, Italy, Netherlands, Portugal, United Kingdom, Sweden, Denmark, Switzerland, Czechoslvakia and Hungary.
