This brochure makes use of the most frequently cited figures on traffic fatalities and hospital admissions to quantify road traffic safety in the Netherlands. The number of traffic fatalities per 100,000 inhabitants in the Netherlands are compared with figures in several other countries, both within and outside of Europe. The brochure also provides indicators on such topics as drink-driving, seatbelt use, bicycle lighting, population, passenger car fleet, the number of persons holding driving licences, road traffic offences and the number of roundabouts.
