Abstract

This brochure has made use of the most frequently cited figures to quantify road traffic safety in the Netherlands and is published annually. The figures relate to the number of traffic fatalities and hospital admissions. The brochure ‘Road Safety in the Netherlands, Key Figures’ further compares the number of traffic fatalities per 1,000,000 inhabitants in the EU countries with the figures in several other countries, both in and outside Europe. The brochure also provides indicators on such topics as drink driving, seatbelt use, bicycle lighting, population, passenger car fleet, the number of persons holding driving licences, road traffic offences and the number of roundabouts. This brochure may also be downloaded from the Internet via http://www.rws-avv.nl. The site also contains an Excel file in which (extensive) data on the tables and diagrams can be found. (Author/publisher) Dutch title: Kerncijfers Verkeersveiligheid.
