Abstract

This annual brochure presents the most frequently cited figures to quantify road traffic safety in the Netherlands. The figures relate to the number of traffic casualties and hospital admissions. This brochure further compares the number of traffic casualties per 1,000,000 inhabitants in the EU countries with the figures in several other countries, both in and outside Europe. The brochure also provides indicators on such topics as drink-driving, seatbelt use, bicycle lighting, population, passenger car fleet, the number of driving licencees, road traffic offences and the number of roundabouts.
