Abstract

This issue of Current Topics includes over 70 abstracts of reports, conference papers, books and journal articles which focus on road safety publicity campaigns, looking at their content and effectiveness in influencing awareness, knowledge, attitudes, and behaviour of drivers and other road users. Many specific campaigns are described, in the UK and abroad, focussing on topics such as crossing the road, drink driving, speeding, using a mobile phone while driving, and safety belt use. These items have been selected from the material added to the Transport Research Laboratory’s Library Database between 2004 and 2006. Much of the relevant English language published literature from the UK, USA, Australia and Europe is included; some of the non-UK literature is included courtesy of the OECD International Transport Research Documentation (ITRD) database. Abstracts for the years 2000-2002 can be found in a previous issue of this title: Current Topics in Transport 107.2 (C 25475 S / IRRD E117406). Abstracts for the years 1996-1998 can be found in a previous issue of this title: Current Topics in Transport 107.1 (C 12658 S / IRRD E100395).
