Abstract

This issue of Current Topics includes over 60 abstracts of reports, conference papers, books and journal articles which focus on road safety publicity campaigns, looking at their content and effectiveness in influencing, awareness, knowledge, attitudes, and behaviour of drivers and other road users. The topics considered include crossing the road, drink driving, speeding, use of in-car devices and safety belt use. Research aimed at developing an understanding of what information and methods to use in road safety publicity campaigns is included. These items have been selected from the material added to the Transport Research Laboratory's Library Database between 2007 and 2010. Much of the relevant English language published literature from the UK, USA, Australia and Europe is included; some of the non-UK literature is included courtesy of the OECD International Transport Research Documentation (ITRD) database.
