Abstract

The report considers successively skid resistance, evenness, tyre-road noise, surface reflection properties, energy and economic aspects, and highlights possible trade-offs between these requirements. Subsequent chapters deal with surfacing technology and maintenance strategies, as well as road markings and particular problem areas. The Report should provide road administrations and industry with a comprehensive and up-to-date compendium of developments in this important area of highway enginering and management.
