Abstract

For most of the modern passenger cars tyre noise is dominating the external noise emission for constant speeds above W-50 km/h. Recent studies have pointed out that type of road surface can influence tyre noise as much as, or more than the type of tyre. A porous but not too rough surface might be the optimum to reduce tyre noise emission.
