Abstract

Road accident is one of the major causes of death, injuries, disabilities, and property damages in many countries. Proper and systematic preventiveand proactive measures should be proposed to minimize road accident problems. Basically, every accident occurs in time and space. Looking for similar accident patterns, analyze over time and over space could identify problem regions or time periods for application of relevant measure. This paper describe proposed analyze of road accidents based on numerical expression of ASI (Accident Severity Index) for every single accident. This accident characteristic include weighted components such number of personal injury or death and material damage estimation. Calculation of sum, average andmultiplication of aggregated ASI in space and/or time shows differences between regions, periods etc. and enable identify extreme cases for an application of some measures. Analyze was performed and evaluated on road accidents in years 2007 and 2008 for the Czech Republic.
