Abstract

Comprehensive intelligence on road traffic collisions and casualties in the North West is brought together for the first time in this report (including police incident information, data from the North West Ambulance Service, hospital based information on accident and emergency attendances and hospital admission and mortality data) to describe the current picture across the North West and within local areas, for people of all ages and where possible for children. The intelligence is intended to support local decision-making and inform the development of local plans to reduce the risk of injury and death from road traffic collisions, thereby protecting the health of people who travel in the North West. Summaries for each North West local authority, to be read in conjunction with the main report, have also been produced and are available at http://www.nwpho.org.uk/RTCs_NW/ (Author/publisher)
