Abstract

A new solution to the congestion problem: the "delestages", which are automatic traffic diversion systems consisting of local by-passes of bottleneck areas, is described. Also described are the road information centers which provide a new aid for motorists; some of them are equipped with an automatic data collection system. Both of these innovations, the system which relates them and the results of several years of development are described.
