Abstract

This white paper sets out the United Kingdom government's response to the report of the road traffic law review, which was carried out by a committee chaired by dr Peter North (see IRRD 811567). The white paper contains a wide variety of proposals to improve the structure of road traffic law, to increase its public acceptability, and to make it operate more simply and effectively. Sections are provided on: road traffic offences; penalties; the use of new technology for law enforcement; and the implementation of the law.
