Abstract

Autostrade Centro Padane has invested financial and human resources in meteorological monitoring and forecasting systems in the conviction that they are very important for motorway management and safety. The system comprises roadside weather stations for data collection, data processing at the Company's headquarters and data distribution to all interested parties, including the Company's Operating Center. A very important component of the system is represented by the Service Agreements stipulated with specialised Meteorological Organizations. The data acquisition network is described with particular attention to the sensor technology employed, the installedsoftware, the information flows, the utilization of both real-time and further processed data and also to the procedures which are activated when pre-determined conditions are met. For the covering abstract see ITRD E143097.
