Road weather : a report about the activities carried out by the autostrade (IRI-ITALSTAT) in order to warn users of adverse road conditions due to bad weather.

Abstract

Although Italian average climate is much less severe than other Northern Countries' such as Norway or Denmark, where snow and ice regularly cover the roads in winter, and consequently drivers have got accustomed to managing them, nevertheless the Italian authorities who have responsibility of managing the motorways feel that it is worth taking the appropriate measures, so as to both reduce risk for drivers and improve significantly winter operations. A description is given of the measures taken by the Autostrade.
