Abstract

Refugee or reception camps for persons from famine areas are located mainly in remote regions which have no road access for delivery of supplies. The report shows how, in Southern Sudan, the proposed road connection was selected for improvement. The rapidly growing use of motor vehicles in the developing countries has resulted in a marked increase in accidents. Taking Malaysia as an example, the report shows the accident trend that has developed there. The report deals with a test stretch of road in Malawi in which the behaviour of a pavement on varying subgrade conditions is recorded.
