Abstract

This report shows the result of the work of a Swiss group, active in Bissau, Brazil, Ivory Coast, Niger and Togo in research on tropical soils in collaboration with African and Brazilian colleagues. The results used in this report are: soil classification, laboratory tests supplementing uses by shrinkage limit and Brazilian tensile strength. Soil stabilization, choice of aggregating soils that do not need cements of binder and soils that are stable only with cement. - Possible road structures, shown as examples from test sections of specific (West- African) and general applicability.
