Abstract

New methodology was applied preferably in urban highway stretches of short length, running through urban areas of small or medium size towns, with a high rate of highway accidents, including some that were fatal. The results were very positive. The rate of accidents was reduced and the result was well received by the communities involved. The established directives of the new policy to be adopted in urban highways, as well as the adopted methodology, are described in this paper.
