Abstract

Modern transportation planning in urban areas demanding an economical use of land and energy, and an effort to reduce environmental impacts requires an effective public transport. Traffic engineering techniques and in particular traffic control design have to meet these three requirements. A computer aided model of traffic flows allows to predict the effects of the control system even if complex public transit priorities are needful.
