Abstract

The paper looks at the facilities which need to be accommodated within the road reserve, and examines their interaction and the consequent influence of the location ant type of surface structures which result. Consideration is given to attempts made to control the various locations of these facilities within the reserve and the concept of some unifying authority with the responsibility of maximising the overall efficiency of the roadway as a transportation corridor.
