Abstract

The fate of errant vehicles after they have accidently left the travelled way is discussed. Ways to achieve reduction of the number of fixed roadside objects or hazards are mentioned, together with reduction of collisions with opposing vehicles through physical separation of opposing traffic streams or through use of median barriers. Locations at which the probability of an off- the- accident is large are cited.
