Abstract

The evaluation of the pavement surface friction has been based on the determination of single coefficients of the sliding friction at certain road speeds. The length of the stopping distance represents the most adequate measure of the pavement surface condition from the point of view of friction. The results of investigations on the influence of water, composition of wearing course mixture and the material between course mixture and the material between tyre and pavement surface are not in agreement with some existing expert opinions,
