Abstract

The role of public lighting presents a proud past with many notable contributions. Opportunities to meet future needs and challenges seem most inviting. With the wealth of new light sources coupled with new luminaire design for more effective control of distribution and glare, adequate roadway lighting is something no community can afford to do without. When its benefits are demonstrated we can be assured that the taxpayer will underwrite the cost.
