Abstract

Studies of the problem of merging delay at an uncontrolled intersection used the assumption of a step gap acceptance function. Many measurements exist of gap acceptance functions that are not of this form. The theoretical consequences of replacing a realistic gap acceptance function by one that is a step function are examined and the results are discussed.
