Abstract

Emanating from a lively period of field and pilot testing of ATT (advanced transport telematics), a new phase of ATT developments is in its early stages in sweden. The snra, which traditionally has been a keeper of the national roads, is now transforming into a road traffic manager with obligations extending to the overall performance of the road traffic system. A network of regional road traffic management centres is being established. Strategic guidelines for the use of ATT as a major technical resource for advancing road traffic management have been prepared. A synopsis of these guidelines are provided in this paper. (A)
