Abstract

The role of alcohol, licit and illicit drugs in fatal traffic accidents were investigated in a multicenter, prospective study in five European countries during the period 01.01-31.12.2001. The alcoholic intoxication remained risk factor in all of the countries, the rate of intoxication was 43,1 % pedestians, 40,1 % drivers, 38,1 % motorbike and 32,1 % cyclists. The licit drug use is sporadical, illicit drug use was found to be relative common only in Slovenia. (Author/publisher) For the covering abstract of the conference see ITRD Abstract No. E201067.
