Abstract

The currant and possible future role of the Australian Bureau of Statistics in the production of road traffic accident statistics is described. The problem of non-uniformity between States and definitions, data items, and processing methods, the difficulties this presents in producing reliable national statistics and some thoughts about solutions are examined.
