Abstract

These proceedings were generatid by the second highway safety specialty conference sponsored by the ASCE Highway Division's Committee on Traffic and Highway Safety. The Conference this year focused on the current state of the art of highway safety and the civil engineer's role in confronting and solving highway safety problems. The presentations centred on the themes of the New Federalism, the engineered factors in highway safety, the engineer as an expert witness, making safety work, safer roads, and the civil engineer's responsibility in highway safety.
