Abstract

In India, cycle rickshaws play a very important role in the city. Since cycle rickshaws are non-polluting, they are being increasingly recognised as a major mode of transport in a developing country like India. These include old city areas of large metropolitan cities such as Delhi, besides other small and medium cities. In this study, cycle rickshaw emerges to be a cost effective feeder mode. The study attempts to examine the impact of cycle rickshaw on a heterogeneous traffic flow and proposes options to augment the role of cycle rickshaws. For the covering abstract see ITRD E116619.
