Abstract

The need to pick up rapidly detailed information depends on the environmental conditions and it increases with an increased work load. The present experiment was carried out in an urban area characterized by frequent alternations of the road ahead. It was found that a close relationship exists between the driver's successive fixations (when considering prior input, the distribution of the information ahead and subject's data) indicating the crucial role of foveal vision.
