Abstract

One in three motorcycle accidents is through loss of control due to inexperience or incompetence. Basic remedies are (1) the novice rider must be informed that he is totally vulnerable; (2) he must be able to operate a motorcycle with skill and confidence and (3) he must be trained in decision making and in taking fast and effective corrective action. Therefore the Canada Safety Council Motorcycle Training Program is proposed, but the testing procedures should be strengthened.
