Abstract

Psychological considerations in the planning of urban mass transportation systems are examined. The authors surveyed recent psychological literature to identify a set of basic human needs which might be applied to improve the quality and image of mass transit. The authors also discuss how a psychological-oriented approach could be marketed to maximize the attractiveness of public transportation.
