Abstract

In 2004, the Department conducted a large-scale community TravelSmart project in the local government area of Darebin, in the inner north-eastern suburbs of Melbourne. Approximately 30,000 households were contacted over several months in mid-2004, using the IndiMark technique. To facilitate evaluation of the 2004 TravelSmart community project, a two-pronged monitoring program was commissioned by the Department. The evaluation project entailed: 1. The conduct of a before-and-after household travel survey of residents of Darebin, before and after the implementation of the TravelSmart project; 2. The conduct of a trends analysis using data available from public transport operators and VicRoads, to identify background trends in travel behaviour and to identify any specific changes in the study area of Darebin. This paper describes the methodology employed in, and some results from, the conduct of the trends analysis. (a) For the covering entry of this conference, please see ITRD abstract no. E213716.
