Abstract

This issue of Current Topics in Transport includes abstracts of some of the published literature (reports, conference papers, books and journal articles) on the roll stability of tipper trucks, tankers and other vehicles. Subjects covered include analyses of rollover accidents and injuries, modelling of rollover mechanics, type approval testing, driver early warning devices for impending dynamic instability, the effects on vehicle stability of wheelbase, car size, height of centre of gravity, braking, steering round bends, and cross winds. These items have been selected from the material added to the Transport Research Laboratory's Library Database between 1990 and 1995. Much of the relevant English language literature from the UK, USA, Australia and Europe is included; some of the non-UK literature is included courtesy of the OECD International Road Research Documentation (IRRD) database.
