Abstract

A study into the route selection behaviour in road networks is firstly aimed at an insight in that behaviour. How do people select the route in a network, which aspects do they consider, and which road characteristics play a role in the selection. On the basis of this knowledge mathematical models can be developed by which the use of routes can be forecasted. The traffic flow in a network can then be calculated. With these models the reactions on intended changes in the network can be estimated.
