Abstract

The design and operation of the Road Research Laboratory Technical information service which is now available, is described. The storage and retrieval system adopted is a compromise between a fully computerized system requiring large computer storage and a tedious manual system. The main feature of the system is its simplicity. The Report describes how the input is obtained, the nature and selection of material stored, and the storage and retrieval procedures for a current awareness service and for retrospective retrieval.
