The standard of the road surface is described in the analysis by rut depth and irregularity. In addition to injuries to persons, property damage was also included. Analysis is made for rut depth and irregularity, both separately and in combination. An endeavour was made to keep other influencing factors homogeneous. Weather conditions were also taken into consideration. On "better" roads, accident rate is 5% higher than on "worse" roads. In summer, accident rate drops as rut depth increases while in winter the reverse is true. As IRI (International Roughness Index) increases, accident rate rises. Rise is greater in winter than in summer.
