In 1989 three government offices, located in The Hague and Dordrecht were relocated to Rotterdam. In 1994 (four and a half year after this relocation) research on the medium term effects on employees was carried out. This paper describes a comparison between airline distances and distances calculated with a network. Network distances are more related to travel times reported in questionnaires than airline distances. Besides, the relationship between network distances and `moving behaviour' and `job behaviour' is more often significant than the relationship between airline distance and this behaviour. (A)
