Abstract

The paper describes a new rule-based object-oriented approach for describing public transport systems. The implementation of this approach - the Transport Object Platform (TOP) - utilises the new object-oriented possibilities now available in GIS to handle topologic complexities beyond the possibilities of earlier, non-object oriented GIS.
