Abstract

Ciudad Real and Puertollano are two medium cities (62,000 and 51,000 inhabitants) that, after the opening of the high speed railway between Madrid and Sevilla, are served by high speed shuttles, called AVE (Spanish High Speed) "lanzadera". The trains link the cities with Madrid. The effects of mobility of the local population and accessibility to transport are discussed.
