Abstract

This report is concerned with appraisal methods for roads in rural areas of developing countries where existing traffic levels are very low and where benefits to investments in the area will be mainly related to increases in agricultural production and improvements in social welfare. Commonly used appraisal methods are critically reviewed and improved techniques incorporating social and economic objectives are proposed. (Author/publisher)
