Abstract

This short article discusses the various modifications which could enable disabled passengers to gain access to trains from 76 cm high platforms. The advantages and disadvantages of each are listed. The modifications include: a) heighten the platform; b) provide lifts or ramps; c) lower the floor of the train; and d) modify wheelchair design so that it can "climb up" the step.
