Abstract

The Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) has developed a training course that provides the basic knowledge to save lives, avoid work zone crashes, and improve safety when working in a work zone. As a result of this course, participants will understand the role of law enforcement officers in work zones; recognize proper practices and procedures related to the use of law enforcement officers in work zones; recognize the component parts of a typical work zone; and understand standards and guidelines related to temporary traffic control in work zones. One of the tools provided for this training course consists of a Participant Workbook.
